Los Angeles Airport is very large and remains crowded and noisy all the time. If you have flights early morning and want to sleep at night then the airport authority may allow you to stay in secured areas.
Otherwise, if you arrive later you may have to sleep in the less secured area (pre-security public gathering area) as the airport security checkpoints remain closed at night.
At LAX you can sleep in multiple areas of different terminals. Among all the terminals, terminals 4 & 7 have the most decent sleeping spots available. You can sleep in armrest-free benches, couches, or carpeted floor areas. However, the airport remains very cold, bright, and noisy at night.
So if you really do have a plan to sleep at LAX Airport then come pack with sleeping gear like a blanket, sleeping bag or mat, hoodie, gloves, earplugs etc.
Sleeping In LAX Airport – Places To Sleep In Lax Airport Overnight
As said earlier that LAX Airport is very large and has plenty of seating for sleeping at night. The inside security area is more comfortable than the pre-security area. Inside the terminals, you will find many seating options and this will vary from terminal to terminal. Most of the seats have armrests. So if you get a chance to sleep on the floor then you should accept it as most of the floor areas are carpeted. Below are the most comfortable seating areas where you can take a rest at night.
Terminal Name | Details |
Terminal-1: | Inside the security area on top of the stairs, you will find long comfortable couches where you can sleep easily. |
Terminal-3: Â & Terminal-4: | You will find wooden benches available near baggage claim area six. Chairs with triangle configurations set up are available. In where you can get some privacy and take rest quietly. |
Terminal-5: | You can find sleeping spots in the ticketing area and besides security screening checkpoints and near the new baggage claim area. |
Terminal -6: | In the arrivals hall around the baggage claim area armrest free benches are available and you can take nap there. Also near gate 64B, some carpeted area is available between the gate desk(moveable) and a column where you can get some privacy. |
Terminal-7: | Triangle-shaped chairs are available for privacy. Near gates 70 to 80 some armrest-free benches are available where you can sleep too (as the airport authority keeps updating its facilities you may have not to find these as said). Especially you can lie down and get some sleep near the pet relief area and United Club. If you want to get in this location then follow the sign marked as Terminals 4,5,6 and B. Also, keep in mind the area could be noisy and cold overnight so plan accordingly. |
International Terminal: | Near gate 148 behind Starbucks, you may find some comfortable couches where you can get some sleep. Near gate 206 you will find some places for lying down and a row of mini couches behind a pillar. |
***Terminal 6 & 7 connector hallway near gate 71A have some quiet carpeted area available which will be perfect for uninterrupted sleep overnight. |
