A Guide To Sleeping In New Orleans Airport | MSY Overnight Sleeping

New Orleans Airport (MSY) stays open 24 hours a day. So if you have an early flight in the morning or your flight is delayed then you can stay overnight at this airport.

The airport is safe and comfortable as there are lots of security patrols overnight. However, if you want to sleep in MSY Airport then you will have to sleep in the public areas(landside areas) as the security checkpoints remain open for the night.

Sleeping In New Orleans Airport

In the landside areas of New Orleans airport, near the baggage claim areas(lower level) and opposite side of the border control area you will find many comfortable sofas, long chairs without armrests and recliners where you can sleep comfortably. These area’s lights are not so bright and remain quiet most of the night.

However, air conditioning could be disturbing for you and that’s why you should try to come prepared with a sleeping bag or mat, travel blanket etc for a warm and comfortable sleeping experience. Long comfortable chairs are available in the lounge areas but we are not sure whether you can spend overnight there as most of them remain closed for the night. However, it is worth a check there!
